Sometimes when I lay down it takes a while for this to spread through my whole body, but when it does I lay calmly with understanding so when I get up I feel more rested than I have in years. I am starting to experience precious, present moments.

I also learned in the Merck Manual that I had a type of depression called, "Dysthymia." That is why it took me so long to understand my physical discomfort and get on the right track. Midwest gave me hope and understanding to keep going with learning and healing. This quote is from a book called, Our Daily Bread, "Trust God to move your mountain, but keep on climbing."

Thank you very much,

The Courage to Do Normal Activities, by Mary Alice Carnine

I'm not afraid to fly out West to my daughter's in Phoenix... Lucinda's tapes and workbook go a long way in giving me courage. The relaxation tape and music also help...Reading the Bible and studying my devotions help me to overcome my depression... It's good to know He's always there. Nothing is impossible with God.

Dear Lucinda,

Listening to the tapes, sometimes it was as if you were reading my thoughts, feelings, emotions, everything. It would almost be a little eerie, if it was not so comforting to know that, for the first time, others felt and thought the way I did.

I will write more in the near future of course, but for now I would like to let you know that I find myself referring to your words and ideas rather often, both mentally and verbally. It is at those times that I realize how nice it is to believe in something, someone, really believe. I suppose it would be nice if I could feel the same way about myself on a regular basis, but that is what this is about, isn't it?

Thank you again
Ellen
