"Dear Lucinda,

I know we've never met, but I feel like I know you well. I'm sure you've heard that one before! I have enclosed several pictures from my recent trip to Sudan. I enjoyed the entire trip without fear!

When I began the program I was to address stress in my life mainly from over committing myself to too many good deeds. Of course, as I got into the program, I realized that my perfectionist attitude was also a problem and many other things that had gotten way out of hand in my life due to my type A personality and a lifetime of bad habits.

After I finished the program for the first time I had seen quite a bit of improvement, but was not where I wanted to be in a couple of key areas, one of which was a fear of flying. It was a pretty intense fear, although I never had let it stop me. My international travel, however, was pretty miserable. Those long flights just drained me emotionally before and during the flights.

I elected to take the program again with a personal coach and was blessed to have Cathy Oswald. She was great! I took one international trip during my time with her and did much better. I was, however, gearing up for the African trip. Then, of course, we had the whole "war" thing...

I am a very spiritually strong person. I know that the Lord really used the program to prepare me, but my relationship with Him and the peace He gave me put me over the top in my ability to go. At any rate, I went, ... it was a success and I can thank the Midwest Center in large part for that. I am actually looking forward to going again and my fear of flying is GONE!

My life is different primarily in my mind!! I did not really have any physical limitations. My biggest problems were

  1. Not being able to say, "no."
  2. Trying to solve everybody's problems... including national problems!
  3. Worrying about every eventuality in the future with the rationale that I would then be prepared for anything!
