I use, and will continue to use, the relaxation tape at least once a day. I walk two miles a day... I have seen that my anxiety and depression are lessened when I exercise. I haven't completely cut out caffeine, but I've learned that more than one cup of caffeine a day really raises my anxiety level.
The program really has improved my life. I have a wonderful husband, who even though he doesn't completely understand what I'm going through, is always willing to listen and encourage me throughout the program. Speaking of support, the chat room at Stresscenter.com has been a blessing to me. I've met wonderful people there who have lived what I've lived. It's so nice to connect to people who get IT! I guess I'm lucky in the fact that I only suffered with panic attacks for a few years before I found the program. It amazes me when I hear people who have suffered for ten, twenty, or thirty years. I'm truly blessed.
Thank you,
AnnieG.

The summer issue (August of 2001) of a delightful magazine, REAL SIMPLE, carries an article titled: "like we did last SUMMER." It's a collection of 25 traditions we could start this year. Among many delightful and whimsical ideas like, listening to see if one can really hear corn grow to making shell necklaces, I found the receipt for Sand Cake something I think I will do with my grandchildren.
The author, Jenny Allen, from NY, plans a treasure hunt and other games for all the children in the neighborhood and finishes the day with a simple picnic. But then, more fun begins as she brings out a large sand bucket and seriously explains to all the little people that sand is good for their digestive systems and a "good antidote to all the treasure-hunt candy." You can imagine the looks on the little faces. The "I'm going to eat sand?!" looks change to laughter as the first plastic shovel-full is put on a plate.
Receipt for Sand Cake
1 12 oz. Box Nilla Wafers
1 8 oz. container Cool Whip
2 3oz. Pkg.s cream cheese, softened
1 4oz. Package vanilla or chocolate instant pudding
1 ½ cups milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Make the "sand" by crushing the Nilla Wafers to sand consistency. With a mixer, combine the Cool Whip, cream cheese, pudding mix, milk, and vanilla.
Layer a fifth of the crumbs in the bottom of a large (preferably Clean) sand pail. Top with a third of the pudding mixture, then a layer of crumbs. Continue layering ending with crumbs. Cover and refrigerate at least 30 minutes.
