was as big a control freak as any of you could boast to be. Control, control, everything in order, and by the waywhat's going to happen in the next minute? Hey! Where's my guarantee?!
I want you to know that I am making progress. I have been known to seize the moment... do something off the wall, not care what someone thought of a comment or action. Of course my kids have stopped shopping with me now that I have taken to speaking loudly when someone smacks their child or speaks disrespectfully.
I have been known to take an unplanned day off. Recently a girlfriend and I went to a spa and I had an hour long facial. Try it!
One day in February we northwest Ohioans awoke to frost and fog; which isn't rare but this morning-WOW-it was an extra beautiful morning. Everything was thickly frosted, almost as if someone had flocked the trees and bushes. I took my camera on my drive to work that morning and arrived a half hour later than planned because I took at least three detours along the way in order to photograph a tree or the fog lifting.
I understand that I am fortunate in that I don't have to punch a time clock, thank you Lucinda, but there are ways that all of us can take the occasional detour. We can leave 20 minutes early and "find" a detour. Hey, let's designate Tuesday as "DETOUR DAY."
Think about it, Monday is known as the beginning-day. Wednesday is the middle-day and Thursday is celebrated as the day before Friday. Friday is the day that starts the weekend. Tuesday is known for nothing; let's make it Detour Day.
We can arrive early and take a walk. We can stop on the way and buy ourselves some spring flowers for our desk. (I did that this morning.) How about visiting a local travel agency during your lunch break. Ask for some brochures to a place that you've always wanted to see. Save all your quarters and at the end of a given time, spend them on something frivolous... if you need to double check frivolous, give me a call.
Don't put off detours, Carolyn
