Nausea is not a disease but more a symptom of some type of illness. Nausea is the feeling or the desire to vomit but not the actual act of vomiting. People can experience nausea from just about anything depending on the individual.

Causes Of Nausea - What Are Some Possible Medical Problems That Would Cause Nausea?

One of the most common causes of nausea is acute gastritis. Acute gastritis is an inflammation of the stomach and could be caused by: infections, stomach flu, food poisoning, alcohol, smoking, medications and peptic ulcer disease. Other causes of nausea could be related to signals from the brain such as: headache, inner ear problems, head injury, smells or certain sounds, as well as heat-related illnesses such as dehydration and sunburn. Of course the most common reasons for nausea would be nausea associated with illness. Illness-related causes of nausea could be diabetes, HIV, hepatitis, gallbladder disease, pancreatitis, inflammatory bowel disease and some forms of cancer. There is also nausea related to bulimia, bowel obstruction, pregnancy and medical treatments. Make sure you contact a physician if you experience nausea for a unusually extended period of time.
