Hypochondriac Symptoms

One of the most prevalent symptoms of hypochondria is regular visits to a physician. Often people suffering from hypochondria will visit doctors saying they are suffering from some illness, receive a check up, the doctor will then give them a clean bill of health and the individual will then go and see another doctor and repeat the cycle until they feel they are given the answer they wanted. These individuals will be obsessed with a certain disease and will discuss it regularly with friends and loved ones. They feel assured that they have the illness and will accept no other answer other than that they are ill.

Hypochondriac Symptoms - If I Often Worry I Am Sick, Does That Mean I Am a Hypochondriac?

People should always be cautious when it comes to being ill but a hypochondriac will take it to extreme levels. If you are convinced that you have a disease and a doctor tells you are fine, you then get a second opinion and they tell you that you are fine but you continue to seek out more doctors then you may be suffering from hypochondria. If you take the two opinions of the doctors and go on with life then you are simply being cautious which is a smart thing to be. If you seek multiple opinions and one doctor suggests you see a mental health care professional and you refuse you may be suffering from hypochondria.

Hypochondriac Symptoms - Are Frequent Visits to the Doctor the Only Symptoms?

Frequent visits to the doctor are definitely not the only symptoms. Often people suffering from hypochondria will continually check themselves for signs of illness such as lumps or sores, they will also check vital signs such as blood pressure regularly. There is also the opposite to frequent visits to the doctor, some folks may never go to the doctor for fear that they will get bad news. Some consider exploratory surgery as a means to make sure they are not ill. Some folks read about an illness and are then convinced they are suffering from that disease. They will then obsess over that specific disease and continually talk about it and eventually that will put increased stress on themselves and their relationships with others. Hypochondria is a very treatable disorder and no one should have to live with it. If you feel you are suffering from hypochondria go see your doctor immediately.
